So how did you do for Thanksgiving? Did you workout out in the morning or at some point during the day? I did! I hit the gym in the morning so help with the extra calories I was bound to consume! I cooked for my family so I was able to control a little what and how I ate. I must say though the only thing that really I made for myself was brussel sprouts. The rest of the items on my menu were all traditional thanksgiving items. I enjoyed everything just small amounts of the items very high in calorie/fat. I enjoyed dessert but as you all know that is my thing so I would rather have dessert than pile my plate with the savory stuff:)
So the rest of the holidays are upon us…. That means holiday cards. Possibly photo holiday cards. If you look at your picture and you want next years to show a better you. A more healthy you…then I suggest you start now. Start by making small changes. I don’t believe in depriving ourselves of anything but soda. Soda is the devil in my eyes! Give it up now! As for the holiday parties and gatherings…do not go hungry. Eat before you go and eat clean and healthy. If you are bringing something make it something that you can eat and enjoy without derailing completely! Eat and enjoy just watch your portions! It the gym or get outside and do some exercise to help burn some calories. I know I am going to chow down on some yummy Christmas cookies so I will be doing some extra cardio in the next couple of weeks. Just do
the best you can and don’t go over board a holiday is not a pass to just let your journey end. Its a time to show yourself how strong and committed you really are!
What will your “ah ha moment” be? Will it be something someone says to you? Will it be reading this blog? Will it be when your jeans no longer fit? What is it that motivates us?
Today, when I was preparing to leave the locker room to work out this woman who is at the gym almost as much as me stopped me. She said she is in awe of me and that she wants to attach herself to me. She wants my drive. My motivation to push myself on my own. I don’t always give myself credit for all of my strengths! In this quick passing moment I realized take a second to pat yourself on the back for staying on this journey and for my self-motivation. As I have told you before I prefer to push myself on my own rather than attend the classes my gym offers. I took the time to research different strength training exercises and incorporate this into a routine. Cardio is easy because all you have to do is jump on a machine and move. The challenge is pushing yourself to limits that will allow your body to change. Last challenge is preparing and consuming healthy meals and snacks that are portioned properly.
This woman only does classes because she believes she doesn’t have the ability to push herself and create her own routine. I don’t believe in “I Can’t”! I don’t want to hear I can’t come out of anyone one of my followers mouth’s. Say I can and try! If you try you will eventually succeed. Allow any failure to motivate you to try again. Keep trying till you get it right! When you want something bad enough you will find a way to start! Push through your fears and the pain! Start and do not stop! Be proud that you started. Continue on this journey and find the motivation within yourself to never say “I Can’t” again.
Music speaks to me! This song is amazing to me. Let it empower you! Put it on your iPod. Turn it up in your car and sing along. Dance. Listen to the words. Relate.
Love yourself. Love yourself so others can love you. So others gravitate to you. Nothing is better than a confident woman. Be the woman you want to me. Be the person you should be, regardless of your past. Regardless of your rocky journey find a way to be positive. You are worth it!
Rise up! Tomorrow is Monday! People love to Start their journeys on Mondays. Regarded of when you start never stop working towards your goals!
Sometimes in life we have trick our minds into believing things that we don’t necessarily want in that moment. There are many moments I want to grab a spoonful of ice cream or to skip the gym. The trick is to fake out our mind. Focus on the end goal of your journey and what you ultimate want. Force yourself to get out and walk or hit the gym. Throw away the ice cream or cookies tempting you. Go buy yourself a healthy snack! Buy a shirt that is a little too tight settimg a goal to fit in it and wear it proud for a night out! Trick yourself into believing in yourself! We should all believe in ourselves all of the time but that is just not practical for majority of us. We are not in this journey because we have this amazing metabolism and this just comes easy to us. We work hard to be on this journey and stick with it. Mind games in this case aren’t such a bad idea!
Stay on track and do what you need to do to do just that! This is your journey forge ahead!
In life there is no crystal ball so enjoy what you have right now! This is a reminder to me and to anyone else in need.
Life challenges us with stumbling blocks and sometimes failure. Our life journey has ups and downs. Every aspect of our life contributes to these ups and downs. How we handle these ups and downs will affect our fitness and wellness journey greatly. We have to see this as a fork in the road and decide to push for what we are longing for. To work harder. With failure we must pick ourselves up and look at what is good in our life. I know for myself I have experienced feeling sad or depressed about things but I always find a way to get myself to the gym and let off some steam. I can’t tell you I always make good food decisions those days but I try to stay cognizant of my journey. Someone said something to me the other day that just today made me realize instead of enjoying the amazing things I have I am conjuring up negative possibilities. I couldn’t help but to mentally smack myself in the forehead. My life is damn good for many reasons. I am choosing to find it within myself to only focus on the positive. I am going to thoroughly enjoy the wonderful people in my life. Smile and be myself! Enjoy life instead of waiting for the negative. Maybe the negative will never come. If it does then will be the time I put my big girl panties on and deal with it. Until then I am focusing on being the best and happiest me I can be! If I think positive I can only hope more positive will come my way. I am going to concentrate on enjoying the wonderful things I have in my life and focus only on that. Make your life journey GREAT! Your fitness and wellness journey will follow!
Smile and be kind to people you never know what they are going through!
So after a year of contemplating the possibility of getting a tattoo I finally did it this weekend! Because I Can! I also tweaked my left knee and it is swollen and bruised. So between the two things I had to take two days off from the gym and went very easy today feeling like there wasn’t much I could do. I am just so used to really going hard and dripping with sweat when I am done with my workout. I realize once again how much exercise is a part of my life. It is a release for me. It makes me happy. It makes me feel good about myself.
I hope for you that you can motivate yourself to find an exercise routine that works for your life and stick to it. It will make you happy, it will bring out a confidence you might not have had before. There is nothing negative it could bring out in you!
I will go to the gym tomorrow and try to go light but as long as I get there it will be a mind over matter for me. My withdrawals will ease up and I can get some form of exercise in:)
The best motivator is yourself. If it comes from within it has the potential to be forever. Because You Can:)
Having been very sleep deprived for the past couple of weeks I have had to work very hard to stay motivated. As we all know this journey isn’t easy on a daily basis. You are all getting to know me but those who do know me know that when I set my mind to something there is very little that can get in my way! I work very hard to eat well and on a schedule. I very rarely drink alcohol and work out 6-7 days a week. Lately with the labor day weekend and enjoying time with friends I have been drinking more than normal. I always drink clear…vodka and club. I eat before I go out so that I am not hungry to eat crap. If I do eat out I make the best choices possible. I went to the tiki bar and looked at the menu and it was almost laughable but then I saw grilled chicken wrap and it was the perfect comprise! The no eating after 7…um well that has been broken recently too. All of these broken promises to my journey have reflected in no negative changes to my body. I attribute that to when I can I stay the course and work hard on my fitness. I actually weighed myself and am happy to say I am 148. I think that is my number. Less than 150 which is all a head game for me but as long as I realize that I know where I need to be for me. When I look in the mirror or try on my clothes I feel good. What is it all about people? Feeling your best! So if you feel your best you will reflect that and people will be drawn to you. Your number on the scale doesn’t make you the amazing person that you are. Your happiness that you outwardly exude is what draws people in and keeps you feeling your best. So the point of this blog is sometimes we have a bad eating day. Sometimes we have a bad eating meal or skip the gym a day or more. This all is normal stuff. Life is busy and our daily life can force us to not stick to our routine. As long as you are constantly aware of your journey and never give up you will be ok.
Stay motivated. Find motivation within yourself. Take motivation from the person on the machine next to you at the gym. See someone walking or running down the street and let that motivate you to get out there too. Go grocery shopping and pick up the right things that you love to fuel your body properly. Allow joy in your life. Tell yourself you are beautiful because you are. Exercise because you can. Tomorrow is another day and as long as you wake up you have the opportunity to make it a good one!
